Drum Lessons

If you are considering taking drum lessons Music Royale has you covered. With six professional drum instructors, including two former drum professors at Ohio State University we offer something for everyone. Our large drum studios are outfitted with two drum sets, one for the student and one for the instructor as well as practice pads and a bell kit. All of our classes are one on one and the curriculum is customized to each studentís interests and abilities. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced drummer, we can help you reach your goals. Our instructors teach rock, jazz, blues, funk, latin and most other types of drumming. Many drum students have a hard time finding performance opportunities which is why Music Royale offers recitals, open mics nights and our very popular Rock School program to all our students. We believe that music is meant to be shared.

At Music Royale, we understand that life happens outside of music, which is why lessons are scheduled from month to month. Our rates are very competitive and there are no long term contracts to sign, so, if something comes up, you are not obligated to continue. We believe that anyone with a passion for music should have an opportunity to play, including students with physical disabilities or special needs.

Music Royale is a proudly independent music store owned and operated by local, professional musicians. We are located in Powell, Ohio at the intersection of Sawmill Parkway and Powell Road, just minutes from Columbus, Lewis Center, Worthington, Dublin and Delaware. We are easy to find and have plenty of parking. Please check out the bios and videos of our drum instructors below.

Max Button

Maxwell Button was born in Tenafly, a suburb of New York City in the northeastern corner of New Jersey. He began piano lessons at the age of six but switched to drum lessons before long. When he was 13, Maxwell's family moved to Akron, Ohio. Fortunately he had plenty of practice space in his parents' garage. It was here that Maxwell spent much of his free time in junior high and high school. He played in the high school marching band and jazz band as well as several garage bands. During this time Maxwell also studied privately with two Akron based drum teachers.

After high school he attended Otterbein College on an audition-based scholarship. After two years Maxwell auditioned for the pop/rock band The Big Creak and was asked to join in August of 2000. He left Otterbein to play and tour with the Big Creak. After the Big Creak disbanded in 2004, Maxwell decided to go back to school and graduated from The Ohio State University with a Jazz Performance degree in 2007. Currently, he is involved in many different projects, including The Jazz Crackers, Brett Burleson Trio, The Moonbats, Men of Leisure and plays mainly freelance gigs as well as leading his own group.
