Instruments Taught: Piano, Woodwinds
Dr. Antoine T. Clark earned his education and performance degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University, The Cincinnati-Conservatory of Music, and The Ohio State University. His teachers include James Pyne, Theodore Oien, Linnea Nereim, Ronald de Kant, Dr. Charles West, and Dr. Richard Schwartz.
In addition to teaching woodwinds and piano at Music Royale, Dr. Clark also is an adjunct Instructor of Woodwinds at Kenyon College, a Woodwind Instructor at The Jefferson Academy of Music at from The Ohio State University, and Clarinet Instructor and Symphonic Band Director at Camp Encore-Coda in Sweden, Maine.
Dr. Clark has previously held academic appointments that included Clarinet Instructor at Denison University, Interim Assistant Professor of Woodwinds at Wayne State College, Choral and Band Director at Linkhorne Middle School in Lynchburg, Va., and Adjunct Professor of Woodwinds at Randolph College.
Many of Dr. Clark’s private woodwind students are members of premiere youth ensembles in the Columbus area. These include Junior Winds, Columbus Youth Symphonic Band, Cadet Orchestra, the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra of Ohio, and the Columbus Youth Symphony Orchestra. His students have been selected as winners of local competitions as well as to the Ohio Music Educators Association’s All-State Band and Orchestra.
Dr. Clark has participated in music festivals both nationally and internationally. These include the Opera Thearte and Music Festival of Lucca, Italy; the Barga Opera Festival of Barga, Italy; the Ash Lawn Opera Festival, Charlottesville, VA; the Gateways Music Festival, Rochester, NY; the “Tutti” New Music Festival at Denison University; and the “NOW” Music Festival at Capital University.
His orchestral experience includes Principal Clarinetist of the Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra, Principal Clarinetist of the Dearborn Symphony in Dearborn, MI., and Principal Clarinetist of the Ash Lawn Opera Festival in Charlottesville, VA. Dr. Clark has performed with the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, the Harlem Symphony, the Soulful Symphony, the Sphinx Symphony, the Central Ohio Symphony, the New Albany Symphony, the Mansfield Symphony, The Heisey Wind Ensemble, the Newark-Granville Symphony, and the Westerville Symphony. Dr. Clark is also an Associate Musician with the Columbus Symphony.
