Dr. Dylan Lloyd earned his Doctorate of Musical Arts at The Ohio State University. He is the Artistic Director and co-founder of his Chamber Music ensemble PhoenixDownRPG, whose mission is to bring GeekChic music to the forefront with creative programs and collaborations. Additionally, Dylan leads an active chamber music life, winning competitions in MTNA state and Regional levels as well as in McCauley with groups such as Ethnic Explosion and That Trill Trio. In the fall of 2013 his wind quintet The Mint Julep Quintet was invited by the Imani Wind Quintet to the Imani Music Festival. While there they performed John Harbinson’s Wind Quintet and a new work Churro Scurro by Alon Nechushtan. In the spring of 2014 he premiered Yvonne Freckman’s Switch for Clarinet and Live Electronics at the Society of Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States (SEAMUS) 2014 conference, a piece that he collaborated with the composer during their time at the University of Louisville. When Chen Yi was invited to be the guest composer at the 2011 University of Louisville New Music Festival, Dylan opened the festival with her Monologue for Clarinet Alone. In 2013 he was invited to perform in The Music Man with the Ashlawn Opera Company. Past teachers include, Angela Soren, Marilyn Nije, Dr. Scott Wright, and Professor Dallas Tidwell. He earned his Bachelors and Masters degree at the University of Louisville.
