Jon Boley

Instruments Taught: Voice

Jon Boley was born and raised on the east side of Columbus. He graduated from Walnut Ridge High School and was a member of the Ensemble under the direction of Mr. Phil Wallace. He attended Michigan State University and performed in numerous musical groups and bands. He was a member of The Spartan Dischords, a twelve man a cappella group selected from the MSU Men’s Glee Club. For two summers while at MSU he performed as the Lead Singer/Dancer for the Golden Garter Revue in Traverse City, MI. It was there he got an opportunity to sing as an understudy for the Voices of Liberty at Epcot Center in Orlando, FL. He recently moved back to Columbus a few years ago to finish his degree at Capital University. He was a member and section leader of the Capital University Rock Ensemble directed by Dr. Mark Lochstamphor. He graduated from Capital University with a Bachelor of Arts Interdisciplinary Studies Vocal Music Performance and Audio/Video Technology. Magna cum Laude.

Jon’s philosophy towards teaching and music in general centers on fun. Music and singing should be a release of stresses or a re-energizing of one self. So in his studio you are encouraged to express yourself, have fun, and enjoy the process of singing. He teaches the students to hear the subtle nuances of color in popular singers’ voices, and by studying these artists finding your own voice, style and color.
