Gordon Perkins

Originally from Columbia, South Carolina, Gordon began learning guitar at seven years old. His passion continued with school band in middle and high school, giving him an early foundation and deep appreciation for music. With a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in theatre, Gordon started his music teaching career in Charlotte, North Carolina. He began teaching guitar, bass, vocals, beginner keyboard, and multi-instrument group classes for young children. He later became involved in directing bands and teaching at music summer camps.

Post graduation, Gordon joined his first band, WAGS, which started in Rock Hill, South Carolina. After moving to Columbus to pursue his performing career full-time, he became a resident performer at Shadowbox Live for two years. He also continued his passion for private music instruction and began teaching songwriting along with guitar, voice, bass, and piano in the Columbus area. Gordon’s favorite styles of music are blues, rock, jazz, funk, folk, and bluegrass, although his appreciation and curiosity of all musical genres knows no bounds. His musical influences include Jerry Garcia, Django Reinhardt, Harry Valentino, Connie Converse, BB King, Cameron Winter, and Doc Watson.
