Tim Perdue

Instruments Taught: Brass, Trombone, Trumpet, Baritone/Euphonium, French Horn

Tim Perdue received his Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from the Conservatory of Music at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio in 1991, and has since been teaching privately in the Columbus area. He is available for lessons in all levels of trumpet performance (beginning to advanced), music theory, jazz improvisation and beginning- to intermediate-level studies on other brass instruments (french horn, trombone, euphonium, etc.). Tim offers flexible courses of study tailored to each students needs. Lessons focus on learning the basic skills and techniques needed for playing the instrument, as well as additional work in other areas of interest to the student, including marching band, concert band, jazz band, orchestra and solo literature.

 

In addition to teaching, Tim stays busy working as a professional trumpet player in Columbus and beyond. In addition to leading his own jazz trio/quartet, he has performed regularly with many groups including Vaughn Wiester’s Famous Jazz Orchestra, the Rick Brunetto Big Band, Honk Wail & Moan, the Chad Rager Modern Big Band, and the New Remnants Dance Orchestra. His interest in diverse styles of music has led him to perform with such diverse groups as and the Columbus Jazz Orchestra, Conspiracy, the JuJuBees, Yumbambe, the Mazel Tov Orchestra, and the Capital University Faculty Brass Quintet, among many others. Career highlights include touring the United States with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, traveling to Thailand with Honk Wail & Moan as part of the Southern Thailand Jazz and Blues Festival, cruising Asia and Alaska with Royal Cruise Lines Odyssey Orchestra, and playing at the Knitting Factory in New York City with Honk Wail & Moan.

 

Tim also works regularly as a session player and has appeared on many local artists’ albums, including those by the Famous Jazz Orchestra, Honk Wail & Moan, Molly Pauken, Andy Woodson, Log, Fred Haring and Quinn Fallon.
