Since an early age, David Swank has developed a love for all things music. From record collecting, to learning and performing in a variety of sets and settings, David has been immersed in music and creativity all his life. Naturally, this led to a desire to teach and share this passion with his many students over the years.
A graduate of The Ohio State University School of Music (BM Jazz Studies, 2017), David has enjoyed an active professional career as a pianist in everything from the gospel music industry, musical theatre, the regional jazz scene, as well as dozens of local and national acts.
As an educator, David has found success in an approach catered to each student’s level of understanding and desired goals. An approach that cultivates students’ investment in their studies as well as their enjoyment of all things music.
Fields of expertise include jazz improvisation, virtually all styles of popular music, church/worship music fluency, musical theatre/musical direction, arranging/orchestration, and production.
