Katey Hardesty
Katey Hardesty is a graduate of Capital University and holds a bachelor’s degree in Saxophone Performance and Jazz Studies. She grew up on Coshocton, Ohio where she learned how to play saxophone, flute, clarinet, and piano.
Her father Barry Hardesty is the current band director at Coshocton High School and encouraged her love of music and teaching. Today, Katey strives to help musicians of all ages find ways to make music.
She has played at many venues including the PomARTs Art Park with her big band the PomARTs Jazz Ensemble, Bexley Public Library, Capital University, the Jeffrey Mansion, Dick’s Den, and Carnegie Hall. In her free time she enjoys baking muffins, playing video games, and hanging out with her cat Zoe.
Ben Guegold
Ben Guegold is an accomplished trumpet performer and dedicated educator with a rich background in both performance and teaching. He holds a Master’s of Music in Trumpet Performance from The Ohio State University, and a Bachelor of Music in Trumpet Performance from Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music. Ben brings a wealth of teaching experience to his students. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant at The Ohio State University, he taught undergraduate trumpet students, led studio classes, and sat on audition committees. His teaching expertise includes creating personalized lesson plans, establishing fundamentals, and preparing students for marching band, OMEA competitions, placement auditions, as well as the college audition process.
In addition to teaching, Ben has a rich performance background. He has performed with the Short North Stage in productions such as Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, as well as other theater productions with the Columbus Children’s Theater, and The Ohio Light Opera. His orchestral experience includes performances with the Worthington Chamber Orchestra, The Ohio State University Symphony Orchestra, and the Westerville Symphony Orchestra. Ben also has a background in British Brass Bands and has been a member of the Dublin Silver Band, Dublin Metro Brass, and Dublin Cornet Band.
Ben Guegold has been actively involved in various conferences and workshops, including the Ohio Music Educators Association Conference and the Midwest Clinic. He presented a trumpet fundamentals class at the International Trumpet Guild Ohio Chapter Conference in 2023. He has also served as a guest clinician for the Westerville Honor Band for the past three years, and regularly works with local marching bands as a brass technician.
When not playing trumpet, he can be found riding his bike on the Olentangy Trail, or taking his dog, Gracie, to the dog park.
Emily Mulvany
Emily Mulvany is an oboist with over a decade of ensemble and individual experience. She started playing the oboe right here in central Ohio. Oboe was her instrument of choice through intermediate, middle, and high schools. Her private lesson teachers during this time included George Edge (band director at Grove City High School) and Drew Keller (music professional).
Emily then earned a scholarship to play oboe at the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio. During this time she studied under the instruction of professor Jack Cozen Harel. In Akron she played in top, collegiate level, ensembles for five years while pursuing degrees in engineering.
While her day job may not be playing music, Emily loves the oboe! The oboe remains an important part of her life that continuous to bring her joy. She is excited to share her knowledge and passion for this instrument with students. Her aim as a teacher is to help each student reach their oboe goals in an environment that challenges them to be their best, and that emphasizes the fun of playing music.
Ben Turner
Ben Turner has a background in music therapy, working with clients with a variety of emotional needs. Ben’s lessons are about having fun, sharing knowledge, & creativity. Lessons are guided by the student’s interests, strengths, and goals. Ben has an experimental pop & ambient music project called Confusions. Ben is also into graphic design, songwriting, improvisation, and audio recording.
